Privacy
Plain-English version of what happens to your meetings.
Where your data lives
- Not on your device. Once your audio finishes uploading, it's removed from this browser. Transcripts and notes are never saved to the device.
- Audio is stored in Cloudflare R2 (object storage).
- Transcripts & notes are stored in Neon Postgres, tied to your Yap Combinator account.
Encryption
- In transit: every connection between your device, our servers, and our providers uses HTTPS / TLS.
- At rest: the database and object storage we use both encrypt data at rest by default.
- What this means: your data is protected from network eavesdroppers and disk theft. It is notend-to-end encrypted — transcription needs to send your audio in plain form to AssemblyAI, and notes generation sends the transcript to OpenAI. We're straightforward about that instead of overselling it.
Who can see your yaps
- You, when signed in.
- Anyone you give a share link to — shares are public to anyone with the URL and expire after 30 days. You can stop a share anytime.
- AssemblyAI processes your audio briefly to transcribe it. They are contractually bound not to use it for model training or any other purpose.
- OpenAI sees the transcript text when you generate Yap Notes. Same restriction applies.
What we don't do
- We don't read your transcripts or notes.
- We don't sell your data, ever.
- We don't share your account-linked data with third parties beyond the providers above.
- We don't use your meetings to train any model.
Delete anytime
From the Account page you can delete individual meetings or your whole account. Deletion is permanent and cascades to audio, transcripts, notes, and any active share links.
Make sure people consent
Meeting laws differ by jurisdiction. Yap Combinatoris built for conversations where everyone in the room knows they're being recorded. Don't use it to record people without their knowledge.
